A Photography Book About Vinyl Collectors- Dust & Grooves.

Here's a project that I absolutely can't wait to happen!!! so much so that I've contributed to help make it so.Have followed Eilon's site for a number of years and always thought that the idea was unique not just focused on the music available on vinyl but also the personalities behind them and why they became involved in collecting, these are not only DJ's but Musicologists and Archivists protecting it for the future and keeping it alive as opposed to to digitised !

About this Project: Dust & Grooves is a photo and interview project documenting and exalting vinyl records, the people who love them, and the musical heritage they carry. With a website launched in October 2008 by Brooklyn-based professional photographer and vinyl addict Eilon Paz, D&G profiles individual collectors from all over the world in their natural environment – usually at home with their personal collections. Each subject is interviewed in depth about their devotion to vinyl, then each conversation is paired with a beautiful series of portrait photographs by Eilon that capture the heart and soul of this passionate avocation. Together, words and images tell the story of the love affair between collector and collection, and preserve a record of music that otherwise might be lost.

Paul Buchanan, So Soulful.

One of the most distinctive voices I've come across in all my years of listening to music ( of which there are now many!!!) I first came across The Blue Nile the band that Paul Buchanan was part of along with Robert Bell and Paul Joseph Moore in 1983 with the album A Walk Across The Rooftops and to say it had a profound affect on me would be an understatement as my first reaction to the glacial, symphonic sound scapes, which had at the heart of them a soulful core of pure Celtic lilt and (to these ears) Blue         eyed Soul,
was to ask who and where were these people that could produce something so beautiful, wistful and yet so dramatic (and in the days of pre google and the internet it took some time) but eventually I discovered there was only one place that would be able to produce such a unique sound that truly represented not only a country but also a city and of course it could only be Glasgow in Scotland and so at the first opportunity I made my way there to experience its unique ambiance and atmosphere (and have been here ever since!!) and let me tell you that Tinseltown In The Rain really, truly could only have been made here!
and so with only producing four albums between 1983 to 2004, the chance to hear some new material from at least one member of the band is something to look forward to because the chances of any new material from the band might be slim (check out the RTE interview below)
Therefore my album is on order and it's available on Vinyl! and I can't wait because this man has Soul.

Come On!! Dexy's New Album out soon!!

I thought this event was never going to happen! been hearing of a new album being released since about 2003,and now it looks like it's going to happen and I for one will have it on order
 (hope it comes on Vinyl!)
Absolutely loved 'Searching for the Young Soul Rebels' album and the whole 'Mean Streets' look, liked 'Too-Rye-Ay' but the baggy dungaree's image didn't do it  for me, back on track with 'Don't Stand Me Down' and the Ivy League vision (way ahead of it's time) and now with (hopefully) the new album, the
40's/'Gangs of New York'imagery rings true, showing that today you can still have that inspiring connection of music and clothes that always work well together but is not dictated by some 'marketing' or 'visual ' consultant but comes from the musicians themselves.

A track from the new album.
 A recent
interview with Kevin Rowland with long time Dexys fan Mark Komode.
HERE'S a link to a fantastic article about Dexy's/Kevin Rowland and how image compliments the music, Thanks to Paul Gorman.
